Model Academy Organises Sahodhya Inter School English Debate Competition

Jammu, Aug 29: Model Academy today organized an Inter School English Debate Competition under the aegis of Jammu Sahodya Schools Complex. The event witnessed a total of 44 participants from 22 CBSE Schools of Jammu where they freely and emphatically spoke for and against the topic "Social Networking Sites- 'A Boon or a Bane'. The aim of the competition was to hone public speaking skills of the students and to inculcate in them the spirit of competitiveness and confidence.
The programme started with the traditional lighting of ceremonial lamp.
Dr. Monica Sethi, HOD Department of English, Jammu University was the Chief Guest on the occasion and Dr. Adit Gupta, Director MIER was the Guest of Honor. Other dignitaries present on the occasion were Rupa Gupta, Joint Director MIER, Parmod Srivastava, Principal, JK Dhiman, Vice Principal, Ruchi Sharma, Quality Assurance Officer and Manju Vali, Convener Co-curricular activities. Shalini Rana, Assistant Professor, Department of English Govt. Science College, Jammu and renowned Motivational Speaker and multiple Guinness World Record holder Vickrant Mahajan constituted the judging panel.
The first position was bagged by Ishita Sharma from APS Akhnoor and Aditi Mahajan from APS Nagrota. Second position was bagged by Ipsa Kohli from APS Domana whereas third position was jointly bagged by Akshita Sharma from Model Academy and Saher from G.D Goenka School. The consolation prize was shared by Wasif from J.P World, Tanisha Sharma from APS Akhnoor, Khushi Gupta from Heritage School and Mrilanalini from JK Public School Kathua.
Earlier, Vidhi Jaswal, Head Girl presented the welcome address, whereas vote of thanks was proposed by Arihan Gupta, Head Boy of the School. The programme was compered by Akshita Gupta and Coordinated by Kanika Mahajan, Tanya Nagpal and Manju Vali.
