| Dismantling of Mahant’s Samadhi flayed | | | Early Times Reporter

A meeting of mahants of 13 Akharas of Zoona order held here today under the Chairmanship of Mahant Prem Giri, disciple of late Mahamandleshwer Mahant Parshuram Giri, President of Sadhu Samaj and Achraya of Zoona Akhara of J&K has flayed the dismantling of the Samadhi of late Mahant Parshuran Giri by the present acting Mahant of Shiv Mandir Panjbakhtar Road Jammu, thus resorting to an act of sacrilege and insult to the entire Sadhu Samaj and Mahants of Zoona Akharas.
Condemning the action of Mahant Avdeshnand Giri, who has been appointed as officiating Mahant of Panjbakhtar Road Shiv Mandir by the administration and is only authorized to perform the puja in the temple and has not been declared as successor of late Mahant Parshuram Giri ji Maharaj Mahamandleshwar, the late Mahant of the temple and has not been authorized by the administration as well as the court to bring alterations in anyway in the temple, or tamper with the setup in the Shiv Temple Panjbakhtar Road, has violated the order of the court as well as hurt the sentiments of a large number of Mahants and sadhus belonging to all the 13 Akharas of Zoona sect in J&K, Mahant Prem Giri has charged.
Stating that this act of Mahant Avdeshnand Giri, who is neither the disciple of Late Mahant Parshuram Giri nor belongs to any Zoona Akhara, but has been installed as officiating mahant of the temple by some unauthorized persons, the Mahants of 13 Zoona Akharas have said that this indiscreet act of the incumbent officiating mahant of dismantling the Samadhi and Gaddi of late Mahant Parshuram Giri, who is held in high esteem by all the mahants of Zoona Akhara and Sadhu Samaj in general, is causing a great resentment and deep hurt among the Sadhu Samaj as well as the devotees of the temple
The incumbent officiating Mahant Avdeshnand Giri is also charged by the Mahants of 13 Zoona Akharas of misappropriating and misusing of huge funds of the temple, collected through donations by late Mahant Parshuram Giri. He has been also spending huge amount of money on his self publicity by getting large sized posters with his photographs got printed and distributed among the public and pasted on the walls. This act of the incumbent Mahant of self projection and self publicity is against the spirit and rules of the Zoona Akharas, Mahant Prem Giri has said.
Mahant Prem Giri, President Sadhu Samaj and Achraya of Zoona Akharas, who along with other officer bearers of 13 Zoona Akharas in J&K yesterday visited the Shiv Temple Panjbakhtar Road, to perform puja and pay their respectful homage to late Mahant Parshuram Giri Mahamandleshwer were shocked to see that the Samadhi of the late Mahant was being desecrated by the incumbent officiating Mahant. It was due to their intervention and strong protest as well as the support of the administration that the incumbent officiating Mahant was stopped in his irreligious act of violating the order of the temple and the Zoona Akharas.
The Mahant Prem Giri has appealed the state administration to intervene to stop the incumbent officiating mahant to tamper with the property, assets as well as religious order of the temple and Zoona Akharas in anyway, otherwise the Sadhu Samaj and Mahants of Zoona Akharas will be constrained to take some drastic step to make the incumbent Mahant to behave in keeping with the order of the Zoona Akhara sect and maintain the sanctity of the temple. Any untoward situation arising as a result of the desperate step taken by the Sadhu Samaj, to protect the sanctity of the temple and Zoona Akharas, will be that of the authorities, Mahant Prem Giri has said. |
