The State BJP Chief Ashok Khujuria today distributed blankets among the poor and needy women at a function organized by the district vice president Baldev Singh at Gangyal.
Later, addressing the gathering, Khajuria termed the Azad Government’s rule as the ‘black period in the history of the state’, and alleged that the corruption has touched new heights, developmental activities have come to a stand still and unemployment among the educated youth has taken new dimensions.
Referring to the recently announced special package of Rs.8300 crore as one of the crueler joke with the people of the state, he said like the state government, the union government too is misleading the common masses. He said prior to it, the union government had announced Rs.24000 crore package for the state and high claims were made of utilizing this for a number of projects and development. ‘The fate of this special package is not known’, he said and ‘demanded a CBI inquiry to investigate as to where and what projects this package has been spent’. He warned the higher officials of the development departments to refrain from becoming puppets in the hands of the Ministers and MLAs and work strictly in accordance with the laid down rules. Asking them to stop granting works to the blue eyed people without inviting tenders, Khajuria said that BJP ‘will not allow these officials to loot and fleece the public money’.
The BJP chief also charged Azad led coalition government of misusing the state owned plane thus causing losses to the tune of crores of rupees. He alleged that this plane is being used by the families of ministers, MLAs and the politicians of the ruling coalition and demanded a white paper containing details of the public money spent on it and the names of the ministers, MLAs and politicians who have been using it for their personal trips and enjoyments.
Former Union Minister of State Prof C L Gupta, newly elected JMC Mayor Kavinder Gupta, district general secretary Subash Jandial and party Corporators Shubh Chander Verma and Balwant Singh were also present at the function.
