| Work is worship as Azad turns 59 | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Mar 7 Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad today turned entered the 59th year of his life. An early morning phone call from the Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and a visit with a bouquet by the Governor SK Sinha was all that the Chief Minister had as birthday special. The Information Department went on say that the Chief Minister does not believe in celebrations and kept him busy for the entire day attending the public problems. Interestingly, with the reportage of his birthday engagements with the public works, the Information department smartly made a celebration out of it. Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad has completed 58 eventful years of his life. His 59th birthday today was, as always, a low key affair as he does not believe in celebrating the occasion. It was a usual day for Mr. Azad who kept himself engaged with the affairs of the State right from the morning and spent hours in inspecting several development projects in the winter capital city. However, his well wishers who seldom forget the important day, visited him or telephoned to convey their greetings. According to the official spokesman, foremost among them was the Prime Minister, Dr. Manmohan Singh who made the first 'Happy birthday call' in the morning. Dr. Singh wished Azad a blissful life and many happy returns of the day. Prominent among those who called on the Chief Minister to greet him at his official house here was the Governor, Lt. Gen (Retd) S. K. Sinha who arrived at the Wazarat Road residence of the Chief Minister at 10 A.M. The Governor presented a bouquet to the Chief Minister and wished him good luck and eventful years ahead. The two were together for about 45 minutes. Ministers, legislators and senior officials also greeted Mr. Azad on the occasion. The Information department further said that on a day when politicians and leaders are known to throw parties and engage in celebrations with friends and relatives, the Chief Minister, Ghulam Nabi Azad chose to do his routine work and pursue development activities in the State. Today was the birthday of Mr. Azad who completed 58 years of his eventful life. However, the Chief Minister, concerned about the development of the State, utilised his time in visiting several key projects in Jammu city to inspect ongoing work and monitor early completion. He took hours in discussing the details of each project with the site engineers and officials. |
