| Govt puts all recruitments on hold | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Mar 7 ET Exclusive Far from going on a promised employment generation plan, in a major and surprising development, the government has put on hold the entire recruitment process at all levels till further orders. Not only backtracking on the fresh employment creation, the government has put on complete hold the process of recruitments which was already going on. All recruiting agencies at different levels have been told not to issue notifications for interviews or any written examinations. Those posts which had already been notified and applications received from the aspirants too have been put on hold. Highly placed sources in the civil secretariat told EARLY TIMES that the General Administration Department today issued a circular advising the Subordinate Services Recruitment Board and all other recruiting agencies to hold the recruitment process wherever it stood as on today. This order not only covers the creation or filling up of posts but also goes on to include all those positions at different levels which have been referred by various government departments to the recruiting agencies. As a fallout of this lightening order, the recruiting agencies at different levels have suddenly development a cold feet and have went on to cancel the interview schedules which had already been notified. For example, the district level recruitment committee in Barmulla district is perhaps the first to cancel interviews of the contractual posts in health department. According to Deputy Commissioner Baramulla, the interview for the post of dental surgeons on contractual basis scheduled from March 10, 2008 stands postponed. Next date for the said interview would be notified separately. Officials in the General Administration Department as well as in the recruiting agencies refused to come on record to explain this sudden and blanket ban on the recruitment process. However, sources told the EARLY TIMES, that the government wants to come up with a renewed recruitment policy to make the fresh appointments. Sources pointed out that this decision of the government is motivated by the political considerations and has the electoral gains as main reason for putting the recruitment process on hold. The government now make recruitment committees at district level to see that political recommendations are taken care of in the recruitment process, observed the sources. |
