Haj pilgrims rue poor transport facility to carry them to Srinagar
9/4/2018 9:41:27 PM
Early Times Report
MENDHAR, Sept 4: It is a matter of great concern that Haji pilgrims from Poonch who had to board the flight from Srinagar were provided 3rd class old rotten RTC buses to travel from Poonch to Srinagar. Condition of these buses was deteriorated to the extent that they hardly reached Srinagar. Same happened with pilgrims while returning to their native district from Srinagar after performing Haj.
One of the RTC buses underwent technical problem near Panar area of Surankote. As the bus was not able to complete its journey so SSP Poonch deputed SHO Surankote to make some arrangements for stranded pilgrims. SHO Surankote Anzar Mir arranged small buses/taxis which dropped pilgrims at their respective places. Most of the Haj pilgrims were old and they suffered a lot. "I was really shocked when I saw two leopards in Pannar where the bus was stranded", said one of the Haji sahib. Incharge of transport yard was also informed about cause but he failed to reach or handle the situation. Administrative staff was also informed but all invain. In this discrepancy it was District police Poonch especially Surankote police who handled the situation. The Social activist Akash Malik was also seen helping Haj pilgrims to lift and shift their bags from stranded vehicles to arranged vehicles. It is a great injustice that a good amount is paid by Haj pilgrims for transport and other facilities but services provided are not upto mark .The negligence of Transport department is at its peak .Same situation was seen during Budah Amarnath yatra in Poonch which concluded few days ago.
