| Workshop on contraceptive update held | | | Early Times Reporter

On the International Women’s’ Day, a workshop was organized in the department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, SMGS Hospital Jammu,
. K.B. Jandial, Secretary, Health & Medical Education Department was the chief guest on the occasion. While Dr. Rajinder Singh, Principal and Dean, Govt. Medical College, Jammu, Dr. Hamid, Director, RCH and Family Welfare and other dignitaries, faculty members, doctors and hospital staff also attended the inaugural function.
Dr. Shashi Gupta, Professor & Head, Department of Obstetrics & Gynaecology, Govt. Medical College Jammu in her welcome and introductory lecture informed that this RCH workshop on Contraceptive Update will be held for two days i.e. 8th and 9th march, 2008 and the various issues pertaining to female and male contraception will be discussed during the workshop. Prof. Sunita Mittal and Dr. Vatsala Dadhwal from All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi will share their views on oral contraceptive, emergency contraceptive and myths about the contraceptives. The other faculty members from the department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Dr. Anita Sharma, Dr. Jyoti Hak, Dr. Surinder, Dr. Reema Khajuria, Dr. B.R. Bhagat will also deliberate on various issues. Eighteen doctors of Health Department from various districts of Jammu province also attended the workshop.
K.B. Jandial highlighted the issues pertaining to Rural Health Mission programme and appealed all the doctors to work whole heartedly to make this programme a great success.
Dr. Rajinder Singh, Principal and Dean, Govt. Medical College, Jammu congratulated the management team for making excellent arrangements for success of workshop and assured all help for such programmes in future also.
