Massive & multidimensional operations are needed against militants
9/5/2018 10:03:01 PM
If the mainstream politicians blame Narendra Modi led Government for the rise in militancy related violence in the Kashmir valley they seem to be wrong. Increase in infiltration of militants and recruitment drive started by some local commanders have increased the number of militants operating in the Kashmir valley. The result of this increase is that all the 10 districts of the valley are affected by militancy. What is shocking is the rise of militancy in south Kashmir which seems to have been a gift from the PDP-BJP Government. And it may not be wrong to point out that since the PDP-BJP coalition Government assumed charge there was an upsurge of militancy in south Kashmir invariably called the stronghold of the Muftis the mainstream political parties have sharply criticised the Narendra Modi-led BJP government for the rise of militancy in Kashmir and sought explanation for the worrying trend.
The reactions came after reports surfaced that for the first time in a decade, militant number crossed 300 in the Valley. The data showed all 10 districts in the Valley have the presence of militants - a worrying trend for the forces ahead of the upcoming panchayat polls. Yes it is worrying situation with the central Government and the successive state Governments trying to be soft towards militants. A massive and multidimensional operation by the Army, the security forces and the police may yield the results. Otherwise carrying out operations in those small areas where there is presence of militants may not yield any results nor can it solve the problem militancy.
During the last four years the Army in Pakistan received a free hand in resorting to violations of the ceasefire agreement and the outcome of these violations was to push groups of militants into the Kashmir valley. For the first time in past four years each encounter witnesses stone pelting and each killing witnesses stone pelting and protest demonstrations in which in retaliatory fire some civilians get killed. There is uproar over these incidents with the result security forces are under directions that they should not initiate any action against the protesting civilians. And while the protesters are on the job militants resurface and open fire on the security forces. And these developments call for massive operations against the militants so that no area is spared where the militants have carved out new hideouts. Besides this round the clock patrolling is called for on the LoC and on the IB to foil ingress bids.
