| New bed of precious stones explored in Doda | | | JAMMU, AUGUST 26 - Exploring of new areas of immense mineral wealth by Department of Geology and Mining, have once again revealed the fact that the Sapphire Valley of Doda district posses vast potential which could give tremendous fillip to state economy. The precious stones lying in abundance here could prove a big boon for Industry, if explored properly. Giving details about the recent findings of Geology and Mining department during exploration work in Padder, the Director, Geology and Mining Mr. Inayatullah Khan apprised that a team of experts under the guidance of Mining engineer Mr. Imtiaq Khan have found great mineral wealth in Ballti Khan area quite far from the original sapphire mines. The exercise is in preliminary stage, he added. Mr. Khan said that due to the disturbed atmosphere in the state, mining activities could not be undertaken but with the change in situation the department has also geared up its activities. Expert teams are on their mission to identify and explore the hidden wealth especially in areas never reached before so as to give boost to the state economy, he added. Besides the department is on the verge to achieve the target of Rs. 10.5 crore revenue as compared to last year's Rs. 6 crore. During investigation, the team comprising of Geologist Dr. Brajesh and Mine Supervisor Mr. Ramesh Gandotra have found high grade Gypsum, fine Granite stone, blue coloured crystals of Azorite and many other priced gems in Ballti Khan. Asking the industrialists to explore the identified areas, Mr. Inayatullah Khan extended confidence that new industries would not only provide financial help but employment opportunities as well. |
