| Rather demands probe in SRTC bunglings | | Urges govt to release employees’ salaries | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Mar 8 Senior National Conference leader and leader of opposition in J&K Legislative Assembly Abdul Rahim Rather has strongly condemned the use of brutal force against the State Road Transport Corporation (SRTC) employees at jammu and Srinagar, who have been peacefully fighting for their rights for the last so many days. In a statement issued here today, the former Finance minister and senior National conference leader Abdul Rahim Rather term the police raids on the residential houses of the protesting employees during the previous night as unfortunate and said that many of them have been arrested and detained as if they were criminals. While condemning the police action on protesting employees in Srinagar on Saturday he said the employees were demanding their pending salaries. He has asked the government to immediately release them and fulfill their long pending demands. He said it is a matter of shame for the government that the dependents of these employees are also now on the roads clanduring for justice. Rather further said that due to inept handling and wrong policies of the government, the sate run corporations in Jammu and Kashmir are at the verge of collapse, thus jeopardizing the livelihood of thousands of employees working in these bodies during the coalition rule is a testimony to the fact that those who are at the helm of affairs have Scand respect for rules and regulations. "Those voicing concern against this state of affairs are unfortunately dealt with lathis and blows", rather added. He demanded an inquiry into bunglings and mis-appropriation committed in these corporations during the last five years.
