Director SW inspects offices at Bishnah

JAMMU, AUGUST 26 Director Social Welfare Jammu Satesh Nehru conducted tour of Bishnah tehsil and inspected offices of Child Development Project Officer and Tehsil Social Welfare Officer there.
During inspection of Tehsil Social welfare Office Bishnah, the District Social Welfare Officer, Jammu apprised the Director that 1667 beneficiaries are receiving pension under J&K Integrated Social Security Scheme and 724 beneficiaries are being covered under National Old Age Pension Scheme. It was also informed that pension up to June 2006 has been disbursed through banks and money orders.
Reviewing the pace of disbursement of pension, the Director instructed the District Social Welfare Officer to ensure the disbursement of pension for three months of previous year viz, July, August and September and two months of the current financial year viz July and August within next ten days. Expressing satisfaction over the working of Tehsil Welfare Office Bishnah, Mr. Nehru asked the functionaries to strive the speedy and transparent implementation of the schemes of the department.
In order to ensure complete transparency in the functioning of Social Welfare Sector especially the disbursement of pension under J&K Integrated Social Security Scheme and National Old Age Pension Scheme, the Director had earlier desired beneficiary-wise list of all categories of pensioners at village, panchayat, block and constituency level. The lists have been computerized and details will be made available in the official website of District Development Commissioner Jammu. The Director expressed satisfaction and complimented the District Social Welfare Officer and Tehsil Social Welfare Officer for computerizing the list of pensioners.
Later, Mr. Nehru inspected Child Development Project Office Bishnah where he was informed by the Programme Officer, ICDS, Jammu that 180 AWCs are functioning in the project, out of which 61 AWCs have been established under the expansion programme.
Director also had an interaction with the supervisors of the project and exhorted them to visit Anganwadi Centres in their respective areas on a sustained basis. He also inspected two Anganwari Centres of Bishnah town and found the attendance of beneficiaries quite satisfactory.
Earlier on his way he also inspected the office of Child Development Project Office, Purmandal.
