He drew the attention of the jam packed house numbering about 400 , including girls & boys of Happy Model School, towards the discrimination being faced by the women and highlighted the work of women going unrewarded. He emphasized that women empowerment cannot take place unless the awakening comes to men. Deprivation in all spheres has been observed. Women contribute in the development of the nation. Parting between wages in India is not much but in private sector the exploitation is remarkably high with respect to public sector. Women must have an access to formal education. Dropout rate is high as compared to boys due to discrimination being practiced in families. Dr Jasbir touched upon several aspects of the issue including Health, Domestic Violence, Education, Cultural discrimination etc. In his very creative presentation he took the audience ahead in his time machine to the year 2020. He raise several important questions perating to the issues ? He Pointed out with his well researched data the %age of violence and it’s reporting in several states of EAST, South , North etc. Acc to him Empowered women in 2020 would mean a woman living with dignity & respect, a capable human resource that can make home, society , state , nation feel proud& enjoying equal status in all spheres with no gender justice or discrimination. Prof Jasbir in his research study brought out beautiful and spell bound comparison between states of Kerela, Himachal , Rajsathan, Bihar and Delhi. In terms of girl child’s chance of being born, her survival, her access to education, her marriage age & it’s probability, health support facility , family size , expected chances of Violence & molestation in society. Dr. Vishav Raksha expressed her views saying the change has his views saying the change has to start from the future generation. Educating women about all the related perspectives is important. All weak things are feminine, that is where the change has to come. She pointed out that Health of women is a key area which goes neglected by the family. It is not only the physical health but the emotional health is also at stake. Women do not have the freedom to select their spouse and the status of widow is even worst. Though we talk about empowerment but sadly it is only done verbally, policies were made on paper, hardly anything is implemented.
