| JDA surrenders before mighty encroacher | | | EARLY TIMES REPORTER JAMMU | JULY 4
JAMMU Development Authority (JDA) is either sleeping or simply helpless to do anything while, influential and mighty land grabbers/encroachers are having a great time. As JDA has proved its inability to dislodge mighties who have encroached upon its land at posh localities of the city where even a foot of land is as costly as gold. One such case is openly visible at sector-1, Trikuta Nagar where one Raj Daluja, owner of 'State Times' and J.K. Public School an influential person of the city has encroached upon a piece of land approximately measuring one kanal belongs to JDA. JDA had created much of the hype over its "Anti Encroachment Drive" conducted recently at Transport Nagar locality because encroachers there were poor laborers. But, in Daluja's case it remained a mute spectator. JDA's inaction against Daluja has proved that the rules and regulations are being implemented only on the common masses whereas those having influence were free to make mockery of government rules and regulations. It also proved that JDA has been adopting double standards while treating defaulters. According to JDA records, allotment/lease of plot no's. 181P, 182, 192P sector-1 belongs to Jugal Kishore resident of Raghunath Bazar, Bimla Devi resident of Samba, Joginder Paul resident of Kanak Mandi but at present it belongs to Raj Daluja and according to site plan there is triangular strip of measuring one kanal in area which belongs to JDA in front of plot no's 181P and 192P. But contrary to this, the said piece of land is missing as it had been encroached by Raj Daluja at the time he constructed his house. The said piece of land is now a part of his house. The value of that piece of land is estimated to be around Rs. 50 lakh JDA officials when contacted, admitted that the triangular piece of land has till date neither been allotted nor leased to any person and that continues to be a government property. They also expressed their helplessness over the issue. It is also to be mentioned that numbers have been lodged against the said encroachment but no action has been initiated so far by the authorities to reclaim the land as doing at other places. Such an attitude raises the query as to why no action has been taken by JDA to reclaim the land as we belong to the second most corrupt state in the country. |
