| ‘Kanak Mandi Da Taanga Chalya’ fame artist honoured | | 2-day Kashmiri-Dogri musical program concludes | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Mar 8
The 2-day Kashmiri-Dogri musical program organized by Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages at Abhinav Theatre concluded here today. Minister for Power, Babu Singh, was the chief guest, while Devinder Singh Rana, MLC, was the guest of honour on the occasion. Dr. Rafeeq Masoodi, Secretary Academy, was among the large galaxy of prominent citizens and intellectuals present at the concluding session. Congratulating the artists for their superb performance, Babu Singh said that ‘ our state is credited to have multilingual and multi cultural unity in diversity and the talent in the field of art and signing have brought laurels to the state at both national and international levels. He also complimented Dr. Masoodi for providing proper platform to the artists, writers and musicians not only at the state level but also at the national level. The Minister also congratulated Anil Kumar, a renowned Dogri singer and ‘Kanak Mandi Da Taanga Chalya’ fame for being honoured by the Academy for his contribution to the Dogri Music. Devender Singh Rana, who spoke on the occasion, said that today’s performance by the renowned artists of Jammu region has successfully proved that our state has a lot of musicians, artists, writers and the singers of global repute. He also applauded the role of Dr. Masoodi for promotion of rich culture of the state, apart from encouraging the artist community. In his welcome address Dr Masoodi said that in connection with the Golden Jubilee Celebrations, Cultural Academy has taken the initiative to honour the artists of the state who have contributed a lot in their respective fields. He said Ghulam Hassan Sofi, a renowned Kashmir singer, was honoured earlier and the Academy feels proud to honour Anil Kumar Sharma today who contributed his whole life to serve the Dogri music. Chancal Sharma, Bishan Dass, Darmesh Nargotra, Anil Kumar, Ashwani Amarnath, Subash Langeh, Neelam Langeh and Deep Suman also added colour to the function by their melodious songs.
