| Four Jammu water bodies to be conserved | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Mar 8 State Government has projected four major traditional water bodies located within Jammu Municipal area for central funding to develop their surroundings and conserve against increasing pollution, said minister for Rural Development Mr. Mula Ram here on Saturday. Minister was addressing locals, parents and students after inaugurating Compound wall of Government Primary School Burnai located on the back yard of famous one hundred and fifty year old Ram Ji ka Mandir with a large pond spread in front of it. Like the historical temple and the pond on its front, the primary school located on its banks also enjoys the distinction of being the oldest in the area with about fifty years history. Responding to the demand of the locals for developing the surroundings of the temple pond, Minister said that the conservation of the historically and religiously important place would be trusted to Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC). He said as the part of the Burnai area where the temple is located falls under the Jurisdiction of JMC, it would be easy to moot a major project for central funding under any of the scheme being implemented by it. Further assuring the people that the demands highlighted by them would be conceded in a phased manner, he said the upgradation of the Primary school to the next level and construction of some more rooms would be considered sympathetically. Minister also assured that the approach road to the school, besides other works would be completed in a phased manner. Earlier the locals also demanded construction of approach raod to Amrita Vihar, replacement of old power distribution wires, installation of separate transformer for Pragati Nagar and Amrita Vihar to reduce load on the existing one.
