Rajouri police today achieved a major breakthrough in a hawala racket and arrested two persons, including a government teacher, from whose possession the police recovered cash worth Rs1.14 lakhs besides SIM Cards, Mobile phones and other essential documents.
Acting on a specific input regarding the delivery of Rs.1.14 hawala money, mobile phones and SIM Cards to the financial chief of HM outfit Mohammed Zulf @ Munshi s/o Mohammed Shafti Bhat r/o Karag Kandi. The consignment was meant for the divisional commander of the outfit Saqib Kishtwari code Mic-2 through one of his trusted lieutenants Mohammed Qadeer code Lucky Bhai s/o Mohammed Naseeb Caste Kamlak resident of Kandi, Deputy Superintendent of Police Operations Rajouri Farooq Qaiser along with two crack teams led by SI Aijaz Qasier and SI Ashiq Shah, HO Kandi cordoned Karag village and started intensive search operation.
During the operation of the house of Munshi, the financial chief of HM outfit was raided when a meeting was going on. Two persons identified as Mohammed Qadeer code Lucky Bhai s/o Mohammed Nasib r/o Kandi, a government teacher posted in Government High School Saara Kandi and Karmat-Ullah s/o Mohammed Muneer r/o Khadyoon, who runs a Karyana shop in the area, were arrested on the spot. Cash worth Rs 1.14 lakhs, nine SIM cards- 8 Airtel, one BSNL, two mobile phones, 10 Nokia head sets, four sun glasses, one pair shoes, one jean shirt, two cotton shirts and one pair cargo trousers were recovered from their possession..
The meeting was meant to further deliver the cash other commodities to Abass Bhat @ Saqib Kishtwari who hails from Batyas (Gandoh) of Doda district and happens to be the son of a Imam of a local mosque and the divisional commander of HM outfit for three districts of Rajouri, Poonch and Reasi. He is reported to be the senior most commander of HM outfit in the state after the elimination of Hanief Khan by the Kashmir Police. Saqib’s elder brother a militant also was gunned down by the Doda Police in 1996.
The entire operation was personally monitored by Shabir Ahmed Choudhary Additional SP Rajouri under the supervision of DIG R/P Range P R Manhas.
The official sources said the most important input was the delivery of a Lopo SIM, specific SIM card which is being issued to the AIRTEL dealers only to transfer Topus/recharge amount to other pre-paid cell numbers without getting recharge coupons.
It may be recalled that Mohammed Zulf @ Munshi belongs to a family which has history of producing financial chiefs for various militant outfits. His real elder brother Abdul Qayoom @ Abu Musaib code 09, the former financial chief of Muttahida Jehad Council, an amalgam of all militant outfits, was eliminated by Rajouri police on June 27 last year in Ansi Dhok Kandi. The diaries recovered from his possession revealed transaction and distribution of lakhs of rupees between various militant outfits. Carrying forward the family legacy, the sources added that Munshi joined the militant’s ranks soon after his brother’s death and was elevated to the rank of HuM financial chief because of his brother’s contributions.
The sources further said that Rajouri police has virtually squeezed the financial transactions among militant outfits thereby exerting extra pressure on the rankers. In January, 2007 Rajouri Police had nabbed Mohammed Iqbal Sheikh @ Lambu s/o Ghulam Mohammed Sheikh and Hilal Ahmed driver both residents of Pulwama who used to act as couriers for the outfits. Their disclosures had led the elimination of Hanief Khan in Kashmir. An alert was sounded from across the border to all the militant outfits after the arrest of Lambu, the sources said.
