| Compensation cheques handed over to 66 families | | | JAMMU, AUGUST 26- Deputy Commissioner Jammu Mr. Hirdesh Kumar Singh today gave compensation cheques to 66 agricultural families residing in and around village Abdulliah situated along the border belt of R.S. Pura. The compensation was paid, the time during which the farmers could not till their agricultural land because of fear of any explosive device left in the fields. After the area was scanned the agricultural land was again made available to the farmers for tilling. The compensation for the period during which farmers cold not row their land was calculated by an expert committee and awarded today to remaining families. Mr. Singh also visited Sai Kalan village and delivered rehabilitation relief to 12 border migrant families, who took refuge in the village to save themselves from the frequent shelling on their houses that were located very close to Indo-Pak border. He inspected the construction work on Belol bridge and instructed the engineers to execute the work speedily. He directed the engineers of PHE, Irrigation, R&B to address to the concerns of the people in mitigating their problems at the earliest. The Deputy Commissioner also interacted with the villagers and listened to their grievances that mostly pertained to augmenting drinking water supply and irrigation, uninterrupted power supply and road connectivity. |
