| CPI alleges gross misuse of funds under NREG scheme | | | Early Times Reporter

Voicing its deep concern over the misuse of funds under the National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme, the CPI in its meeting at Kotli Mian held under the chairmanship of Comrade Rakesh alleged that as a result of faulty implementation of the scheme, the rural functionaries are exploiting the hapless rural population thereby defeating the very objective of this scheme.
Sharma addressing the meeting demanded procurement of wheat and rice through cooperative societies which would eliminate the role of middleman who are fleecing the farmers. This step, he would, would help strengthening the cooperative movement in the state, besides restoring a sense of confidence and security among the farmers.
The CPI leader also sought strengthening of the Panchayati Ram system at the gross root level in order to ensure speedy justice and development in the rural sector. |
