The rebel has been finally shown the door. A mouth opened in public against the party chief was perhaps the last nail in the coffin of the beleaguered Peoples Democratic Party leader Ghulam Hassan Mir.
Ever since being dropped from the Ministry, Mir has been at loggerheads with the party leadership. His love-hate relationship reached the climax when he questioned the father-daughter duo of the Mufti Mohammad Sayeed and Mehbooba for promoting dynastic rule within the party. His orders of expulsion from basis membership of the Peoples Democratic Party have formally been issued.
Chairman of the PDP disciplinary committee Abdul Aziz Zargar on Sunday expelled PDP dissident leader and former Tourism and Housing Minister Ghulam Hassan Mir for antiparty activities.
The decision to expel the rebel leader was cleared by the party patron Mufti Mohd Sayeed and party Chief Mehbooba Mufti after reviewing the recent anti party activities of the founding member of the party.
It may be mentioned that the rebel leader had himself closed all doors of reconciliation with the top partyleadership after he accused them of running the party dictatorially.
The rebel leader had also ruled out the possibility of accepting any mediation forcing the party machinery to take the next step. The PDP leader had thrown the ball in the court of the party patron Mufti Mohd Sayeed by making it clear that he will not accept their command and is ready to part ways.
It is no political secret that the rebel leader was exploring the option of forming third front to checkmate PDP leaders and had established contacts with the Chairman of the PDF Mohd Hakim Yaseen,CPI(M) leader Mohd Yusuf Tarigami besides other indepdent legislators and loyalists in PDP.
Few days ago General Secretary PDP, Mr Nizam-ud-Din Bhat had described Mir’s uuterances as “political opportunism.” However, Mr Mir had refused to comment on Mr Bhat’s accusations saying that “I do not want to react to a comment made by a novice.”He simply said “I could have been accused of political opportunism had I changed by stand or view for gaining power.” On hearing the decision of the party Ghulam Hassan Mir in his first reaction said, i will explain to them what is party and how it is run,The father and daughter were running the party affairs with a dictatorial mindset. he said he was feeling suffocated in the party for quite long time and had taken a conscious decision to explore the third front option.
