PIL against Post of DHS Jammu lying vacant
DB seeks report on action taken by Govt.

Jammu, Sept 12: Division Bench of the State High Court comprising First Puisne Judge Justice Alok Aradhe and Justice Sanjay Kumar Gupta in a significant order directed Senior AAG H.A. Siddiqui appearing for the Health and Medical Education Department J&K Government to apprise the Court with regard to action taken by the State Government in filling up the post of Director Health Services, Jammu.
These directions were passed in the open court in a PIL filed by a renowned RTI Activist Balwinder Singh highlighting shortage of Doctors and Paramedical Staff in various Health Institutions of Jammu Province.
Advocate appearing for the petitioner submitted that Health Department in Jammu Province is headless for the last two weeks and no effort is being made by the State Government to post a suitable incumbent against the post of Director Health Services, Jammu.
The Division Bench headed by Justice Alok Aradhe took cognizance of the submissions made by Advocate and looking into the importance of the matter directed Senior AAG H.A. Siddiqui to apprise the Court with regard to the filling of the post of Director Health Services, Jammu and action taken by the State Government in this regard.
Advocate further submitted that despite considerable time the State Government has failed to respond to the instant PIL highlighting the shortage of Doctors and Para-Medical Staff in various Health Institutions of Jammu Province and that in rural areas the health care is almost paralyzed and there is immense load of patients at Govt. Medical College Hospital, Jammu.
At this stage Senior AAG H.A. Siddiqui appearing for Health and Medical Education Department submitted that he had received a compilation from the Administrative Department and a proper reply will be filed very shortly to the PIL. The Senior AAG sought and was allowed two weeks time to file response to the instant PIL.
