| Dy Registrar Cooperatives, others in Vigilance net | | Misappropriated 39, 000 liters Kerosene | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Mar 10 State Vigilance Organization today registered a case under provisions of Prevention of Corruption Act and RPC against Sonaullah Malla, the then Deputy Registrar Cooperative Societies, Anantnag and Others for misappropriating of 39,000 Litres of K. Oil meant for public distribution on subsidized rates during 2007. The Vigilance spokesman said that in February 2007, Assistant Commissioner Anantnag had released 2. 85 lakh litres of kerosene for distribution through various Cooperative Societies of the district to Deputy Registrar Cooperative Societies and had also prescribed the mode of distribution. The spokesman said that upon registering a case under section 5(2) PC ACT, R/W 409,120-B RPC, the Vigilance Organization took up the verification which revealed that Sonaullah Malla the then Dy. Registrar had actually allocated only 2.46 lakh litres and misappropriated the balance of 39,000 litres. The subsidized cost of this 39000 litres of kerosene was found deposited by Mohammed Akbar, dealing assistant, in order to facilitate misappropriation of K oil which was later on sold in black market at much higher prices thereby conferring undue benefit upon themselves by misuse of official authority, the spokesman added. Further investigation in the case is in progress, the spokesman said. |
