3 held, 5000 willow crafts seized

Three persons, including driver and a cleaner of a truck, were arrested following recovery of 5000 willow crafts from the truck which was being smuggled out from the state.
According to reports during the intervening night of 9-10 March, Incharge Police post Mansar intercepted a truck bearing registration No JK-02T-9845, being driven by Bahar son of Mohammed Abdullah resident of Banihal. During checking of the vehicle, it was found that the truck was carrying 5000 willow crafts used for making Cricket bats whereas the challan was for carrying apple boxes.
The SSP Samba said that on further checking it was found that the vehicle was loaded with only 20-25 empty apple boxes. He said the truck driver along with its conductor namely Muzaffar Hussain s/o Abdul Rashid of Gool and Wahid Ahmed s/o Jabar resident of Pulwama Kashmir were arrested and accordingly a case FIR No 50/08 u/s 15/16 of Forest Act was registered in the concerned police station for further investigation.
