Fifth Kamaraz Summer festival inaugurated by DG police Gopal Sharma

Baramulla, Aug 26: Amidst ovation and festivity fourteen-day long ‘Fifth Kamaraz Summer Festival 2006, organized by the north Kashmir police at Degree College Baramulla, was inaugurated today Director General of Police Gopal Sharma.
Addressing to the massive gathering of sports lovers, students, prominent citizens and officials of the police and district administration, DG police said that this kind of festivals are especially being organized to bridge the gap between police and public and to utilize the energy of youth towards constructive activities like sports.
Speaking to media persons after inaugurating the festival, Director General Police Gopal Sahrama Said, “The role of police in the present circumstances has increased manifold besides tackling normal crimes. The police have to create the atmosphere of friendship and establish credibility with people to be people friendly.”
Adding he said, “We want full cooperation of people and people have to work hand in hand with the police to bring normalcy in the state and police and public are working for the peace and development of the state.”
Elaborating the importance of sports in present times he said that sport promotes national integration.
He asserted that the need of the hour is to develop confidence amongst the youth by stepping up co-curriculum activities.
Earlier while welcoming the guests, DIG Baramulla Mohammed Subhan said that there is no dearth of talent in the north Kashmir and rural talent is exceptional one but the need was to polish their capabilities to enable them to compete at national and international level. .
Adding he said that organizing such programs not only encourage the participation of the youth but also help in boosting the sports in the valley. He said that the sports activities are very vital in development of the overall personality of youth, and by encouraging such events would go long way in polishing the talent of youth in general and rural in particular.
He further said, “This type of events in which sports is major part not only makes the person physically agile and alert but also help in mental growth owing to the inculcation of brotherhood and sense of harmony and cooperation.”
Later, Director General Police, Gopal Sharma distributed the prizes and momentous among the winners and runners up teams who played an opening cricket match of the festival. The match was played between Administration ix and District police cricket team which district administration won. Many prominent citizens and luminaries were also present including Deputy Commissioner Baramulla Baseer Khan, Sectary to chief Minster Ajaz Ahmad Kakroo, SSP Baramulla Vipal Kumar i, and MLC Sopore Ghlum Rasool Kar, former MLA Baramulla Abdulha Mujahid,SP syed Junaid and other eminent dignitaries were also present on the occasion.
