Jammu and Kashmir Jat Sabha (JKJS) has decided to approach the state government for their inclusion into OBC category, in a meet held here today.
The meet was held under the presidentship of JKJS president B L Choudhary. He said that there are more than six lakh. Jats residing in the state, including border areas, LoC and International border
Moreover, the community is economically, socially and educationally backward and has been neglected by the state government since Independence. He said that most of the Jats are engaged in cultivation, but due to frequent firing on LoC, their agricultural land has been grabbed by the Army and as the result the Jats have been rendered without works.
The members of the community urged upon the chief minister to look into the matter and issue an order in this regard and treat the community at par with Jats of Rajasthan, Delhi, UP, Himachal Pradesh and Haryana.
