| Hold your tongue, CM tells colleagues | | Ministers, Congress leaders asked to reign in ‘alliance’ statements | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Mar 10 Apparently upset over the attempts of a safely sailing boat into the troubled waters, the Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad has asked his party colleagues to strictly hold their tongue on the future of political alliances, particularly for facing the assembly elections. Chief Minister’s warning is also being seen as a reproof to a senior Minister Abdul Ghani Vakil, who is considered most loyal than the king. Asking the Ministers and other Congress leaders to avoid public statements on alliance of the party, the Chief Minister has also warned of ‘serious action’ if they did not reign in the irresponsible barrage of statements. The Chief Minister was probably upset over the Social Welfare Minister Abdul Ghani Vakil’s daily douse of offensive against the coalition partner Peoples Democratic Party. Vakil is always on an extended campaign against the Peoples Democratic Party which does not necessarily have the endorsement of the Chief Minister. His unlimited umbrage of provocative statements against the Peoples Democratic Party has always been a source of unwanted discomfort between the two ruling coalition partners. Sources in the Congress were of the opinion that since Vakil is considered as close loyalist of the Chief Minister, his statements against the coalition partners can be seen as mandated by the Chief Minister. Sources also claimed that the Peoples Democratic Party patron Mufti Mohammad Sayeed has reportedly spoken to the Chief Minister asking him to reign in his party colleagues lest a negative image goes to the public. Visibly upset over the assuming atmosphere, the Chief Minister today asked ministers, legislators and other leaders of the Congress party in the State not to issue statements or speak in public about the subject of electoral alliance of the Congress with any political party. The Chief Minister said that nobody has been authorized to speak on this issue. He said that he would take serious note against those making such statements. |
