| Army holds medical-cum-vet camp | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Mar 11 In pursuance with the objective for OP SADBHAVNA of Jawan Aur Awaam, Imdaad Hai Muquam 6 MAHAR (Borders) of Pallanwala Brigade of Cross Swords Division organized a medical-cum-veterinary camp at Dhanger, a border village in Pallanwala and Khour block of tehsil Akhnoor here today. The camp was inaugurated by Maj Gen A.K Malik, VSM, General Officer Commanding Cross Swords Division and was attended by Sarpanches of nearby villages, local civil functionaries and other prominent persons of the area. Six Army doctors including lady doctors provided treatment to the villages. Director Health Services, Jammu provided ophthalmologist, pediatrician, gynecologist, ENT and medical specialist alongwith other medical staff. The locals were provided with free medicines and polio immunization for children under the age of 5 years. Lectures cum documentaries on family planning, child health, AIDS, hygiene and sanitation were also organized to create awareness to the local population. Free treatment to animals were provided by Army veterinary doctors at the camp. The games like volleyball were also organized for youth, the finals of the game were played on the same day and prizes were given both to the participants and the winning team. Approximately 1200 patients including women and children, besides 400 animals were treated in the camp. The locals of the area expressed their gratitude towards Army of its continued humane approach and commitment to their healthcare as part of OP Sadbhavana in the border areas of Akhnoor and appreciated the conduct of this camp for its timely and much needed succor. |
