| Police arrests 13 persons, seized 8 trucks, 57 smuggled bovines | | | EARLY TIMES REPORTER NAGROTA | AUGUST 27
Nagrota Police today claimed to have seized at least eight trucks including four Tata mobiles and fifty seven bovines allegedly being smuggled to Kashmir in area Jaktti of Nagrota, this morning here today. Official sources told that eight truck including four Tata Mobiles loaded with smuggled buffalos and cows have been seized by the police. A party from Nagrota Police station led by SHO inspector Khalid Hussian, they said, intercepted the trucks during routine checking at Bantalab-Khari road at Jaktti and detected the buffalos and cows being smuggled to Valley. While conducting the search, sources said, the police searched eight trucks carrying bovines. “All the eight trucks were found to be smuggling bovines from Jammu to Srinagar”. All the eight trucks were seized and persons carrying bovines were arrested on the spot. Trucks seized bear registration numbers, JK02C-0978, JK14A-3596, JK02C-0935, JK02V-0655 all trucks and JK02G-9787, JK02M-7819, JKC-7211 and JKE-7066 all Tata mobiles. Among arrested persons Mendhi son of Chutto resident of Row Ghomanasa, believed to be kingpin of the gang. When contacted Station House officer Nagrota Inspector Khalid Hussian told News Agency of Kashmir that on a tiff off a special Naka was laid on Khari Bantalab road at around 3 am today and seized eight trucks along with fifty seven bovine cattle’s. He said adding thirteen persons including eight drivers were also arrested. He said, FIR no 184/06 has been lodged in Nagrota Police station and all of them have been booked under section 188 RPC and section 3 of cruelty to animals. |
