| SKUAST-J holds programme on water management | | | Early Times reporter Samba | Mar 11 The water management research centre of Shere-e-Kashmir University of Agriculture science and technology (SKUAST)-J in collaboration with pulses research sub station Samba organized a one day training programme in district Samba in which 68 farmers participated. Speaking on the occasion, N K Gupta apprised the farmers about overall scenario of water resources and how to use them efficiently for increasing agricultural production. Besides this small hand tools (betel Hoe) were also distributed among the farming community as incentive so as to conserve both soil and moisture on watershed basis. While interacting with the farmers Prof .Dr Bikram Singh, of (PBG) advised farmers regarding management of rabi pulses viz : chickpea, Lentil and Fieldpea. They were asked to keep their field free form weeds in chickpea with regular monitoring of pod borer should be done in case of one larva per five plants go for spray of profenoplhos 0.5ml/lit of water at 15 days interval. Other who spole in the occasion were Dev Raj and Sunil Sharma. The programme was assisted by S. Bachitar Singh, Ramesh Abrol, Subash Chander. The programme was conducted under the overall guidance of Dr. J Prabhakara Associate Dean FOA, Chatha. |
