| Sonali stresses timely supply of fertilizers, seeds | | | Early Times Reporter

To review the functioning of Agriculture Department and implementation of various development schemes/ programmes in Jammu Division, .Principal Secretary to Government, Agriculture Production Department, Jammu & Kashmir, Mrs. Sonali Kumar chaired a meeting of Divisional/District level officers of Agriculture Department of Jammu Division here, today.
Director Agriculture, Jammu, Mrs. Vinod Bala Sharma was also present on the occasion.
Interacting with the district heads of the departments and officers incharge of Seed Multiplication Farms, Mushroom Development, Apiculture Potato Development, Quality Control, Soil Testing Libraries, Seed Certification, Vegetable Development and Agriculture Engineer Wing of the Department, Mrs Sonali stressed for coordinated to uplift the economic condition of farmer community and to raise agriculture production in their respective areas. She underlined the need for proper utilization of funds available under various centre and state sponsored schemes. Mrs Sonali also emphasized the need to organize training programmes for farmers to boost agriculture production. She also laid stress upon the officers to adopt work culture and make it a point that the benefit of all the departmental schemes must reach to common/poor farmers Organizational setup at district level also discussed in the meeting.
Principal Secretary stressed judicious use of irrigation water with stress on sprinkler and drip irrigation, mulching and use of polythene technology for moisture conservation. Regarding chemical fertilizers and pesticides, she advised the officers to take a surge towards organic farming which is crying need of hour for sustainable agriculture.
