| Kundal stresses on greening of industrial policy | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Mar 12 Underlining the importance for greening of industrial policy, the Chief Secretary Mr. B. R. Kundal has called for ensuring pollution free industries lying stress on strict adherence to the mandatory requirements. Addressing the meeting convened here today to discuss disposal of hazardous industrial refuse, Chief Secretary said that health of the people should be considered of paramount importance. Mr. Kundal directed the Industries & Commerce department to identify sites in the industrial areas both at Srinagar and Jammu to dump the waste in the first phase and than dispose it off in a scientific way in the second phase. Pollution and Control Board was also directed to constitute a checking squad to inspect the units emitting pollution beyond prescribed limit. "The checking squad shall give its report weekly and the pollution control Board shall bring the units not adhering to the norms in red category zone", he added. He also directed to set up two laboratories one each at Srinagar and Jammu to test the products of industries. He said while encouraging industrial development, sufficient measures should be put in place to ensure that development was not taking place at the cost of health of people and the environment. he said every efforts should made to ensure that industries were not becoming hazardous to common people. He said a proper and sufficient management of hazardous industrial refuse and polluting substances should be given priority attention. Among others meeting was attended by Divisional Commissioner Jammu Mr. Sudhanshu Pandey, Commissioner Secretary Forests,Mr. Atal Dulloo, Commissioner/Secretary Industries Mr. Pawan Kotwal, Director Industries Srinagar Mr. Farooq Ahmad Shah, Director Industries Jammu Mr. Pardeep Gupta, MD SICOP Mr. Dua, MD SIDCO Mr. IrfanYasin and Chief Manager Pollution Control Board Mr.Seth attended the meeting
