| Liberal Central funding opens new vistas of development in JK | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Mar 12 Describing last five and half years as an era of infrastructural development in Jammu and Kashmir, Minister for Rural Development Mula Ram said that strenuous efforts of the state government coupled with liberal centric funding would transform Chief Ministers dream of " Khushal J&K" into a reality. He said that recently the centre government has announced Rs.1200 crore earmarked under National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (NREGA). This was stated by the Minister while interacting with the people during his visit to various areas including Model village, Rangoor, Vijaypur, Ramgarh, Nandpur and Model Village, Allah Bishnah today. The Minister inspected various works under execution in these areas. He directed the concerned authorities to complete all ongoing works in a time bound manner besides properly utilizing the available funds. At Rangoor, the Minister was informed that 44 developmental works were taken in hand at an estimated cost of Rs.1.20 crore, out of which, 36 works have been completed and the work on others is in full swing. He inspected the improvement work on Pond at Kathar at a cost of Rs.2 lakh under NREGA. He also visited a Community Hall at Allah which has been completed at an estimated cost of Rs.1.40 lakh. He was informed that 27 works were taken in hand at Model Village, Allah which are expected to be completed by the end of this month. Mula Ram expressed satisfaction over the performance of officers in implementing various schemes. However, he stressed for further strengthening the field functionaries. During interaction with the people, he said that the government has recommended to the centre for sanctioning of additional model village in each block. He said that numerous developmental works were completed while remaining works will be completed under National Rural Employment Guarantee Act. Mula Ram said that financial assistance under Indira Awas Yojna (IAY) scheme would be enhanced from Rs.25000 to Rs.35000 for a hilly unit and Rs.30,000 for unit in plain area. This was agreed by the Union Minister for Rural Development, Government of India. The Minister said that implementation of Bloeria committee report for rationalization of panchyats and blocks are being done which, he said, is the top agenda of the government. District Development Commissioner, Samba Mr. Sourav Bhagat besides other senior officers accompanied the Minister.
