| Committee constituted for reforms in examination | | | Early Times Reporter

With the objective of fostering global competence among students of state, a high level meeting convened today in GGM Science College under the chairmanship of Minister for Higher Education Gulchian Singh Charak. The deliberations in the meeting were aimed at preparing a road map for forth coming academic session and formulation of uniform calendar.
The meeting was attended by Vice Chancellor University of Kashmir Prof. Riyaz Punjabi, Vice Chancellor University of Jammu Prof. Amitab Mattoo, Commissioner Secretary to Higher Education Pramod Jain, Secretary School Education Ghulam Ahmad Peer, Chairman Board of School Education, Nissar Ahmad Ganai, Director Colleges Dr. N. D. Wani, Secretary Board Professional Examination, Registrar, Dean Academic Affairs, Controller Examination, Director Colleges Development Council of both the Universities, Principal GCET Jammu, Principal GGM Science College and SP College and Presidents of College Teachers Association Kashmir and Jammu.
The meeting approving the uniform Academic Calendar for graduation, B.Ed, engineering courses with certain changes recommended by the two committees constituted earlier for universities of Kashmir and Jammu. The notification of the uniform calendar will be issued soon.
The meeting gave stress on ensuring 180 working days during an Academic Session in degree colleges of the state to facilitate completion of syllabi as also warranted under UGC guidelines through a revised policy of admissions, examination schedule and declaration of results.
The meeting decided constituting two committees to suggest reform in examination and for starting uniforms academic session in both Kashmir and Jammu division.
For reforms in examination system, Registrars, Deans Academic Affairs, Controllers of Examination of both the Universities, Chairman Board of School Education and representatives of College Teacher Association would be the members and the senior most member would head the committee.
While Vice Chancellor Kashmir University Prof. Riaz Punjabi would be the chairman of the committee for starting uniform academic session, Registrars, Deans Academic Affairs, Controllers of Examination of both the Universities, Chairman Board of School Education, Director Colleges and representatives of College Teacher Association would be the members of the committee.
