Annual sports meet of CGEWCC begins
Badminton: Railways to fact ASI in final

Railways and Archeological Survey of India (ASI) today made it into the final of badminton competition being organized as part of the annual sports meet by the Central Government Employees Welfare Coordination Committee (CGEWCC) at Indoor Complex of MA Stadium, here.
Final shall be played tomorrow at the same venue. Earlier, in the semi-finals played today, ASI beat National Sample Survey Organisation (NSSO) 2-0. In singles, Balbir Jamwal beat Mahesh Sharma in straight sets 21-18, 21-19. In doubles match, the pair of Balbir and M K Joshi outplayed Mahesh Sharma and R S Jamwal 21-13, 21-18.
In the second semi-final, Railways trounced PCDA (Principal Controller of Defence Accounts) team 2-0. In singles, Puran Chand beat K K Sharma 21-8, 21-16. In doubles, K K Sharma and Daljit Singh defeated the pair of K K Sharma and Subash 21-1, 21-14.
The results (Quarterfinals): ASI bt Account General 2-0: Singles: Balbir Jamwal bt Arvind Dogra 21-15, 21-14; Doubles: Balbir Jamwal and M K Joshi bt Arvind Dogra and Ranjit Bali 21-8, 21-16. NSSO bt Survey of India (SOI): Singles: Mahesh Sharma bt Sanjeev Kumar 21-11, 21-19; Doubles: Mahesh and R S Jamwal bt Sanjeev Kumar and Dalbir Singh 21-1, 21-15.
In the meantime, the Table Tennis competitions also started at Indoor Complex today under the supervision of Balbir Jamwal, chairman of the specially constituted Sports Committee. Other members of the committee are Ashok Chada (AG), Surinder Kumar (SOI), RK Sharma (Central Water Commission) and Gulzar Singh (ASI).
Meanwhile, according to Balbir Jamwal, the competition in other three events of Chess, Volleyball and Carrom shall start from March 14 at the same venue.
