National Conference President, Omar Abdullah, today assured that if voted to power, ‘the party will ensure that the Basholi area is fully developed and brought on the tourist map’.
Addressing a public meeting at Basholi in Kathua district today, the NC President said the ‘areas neglected so far will get their due share in all the sectors, especially developmental and employment’. He said the party would ensure that the Punjab government lives up to the promises made to the people displaced by the construction of Ranjit Sagar Dam.
Coming down heavily on the coalition government for halting the recruitment process, Omar said that the ruling coalition can go to any extent to remain in power. ‘There is every possibility that the government will jeopardize the role of recruitment board which seems to be a design to adopt the policy of favoritism and nepotism in recruitment process’, he added.
Asking the government officials to uphold the rule of law by not succumbing to pressures, he hoped that they would live up to their reputation while being impartial and committed towards their duties like the past.
Provincial President Ajay Sadhotra and Provincial President Youth Wing Surinder Singh Bunty also addressed the function.
Those present on the occasion were Rattan Lal Gupta, Sheikh Bashir Ahmed, Devinder Singh Rana, Kashmira Singh, Bilmla Luthra, Ajit Kumar, Rajinder Zalam, Amreesh Sharma, Raj Singh, Surinder Singh Sanghari, Neelam Sharma, Satya Devi, Kartar Singh, Om Prakash, Parvez Iqbal and Master Sadanand.
