| NREGS to take off from April 1 in Leh | | | Early Times Reporter

The ambitious National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (NREGS) is being implemented in Ladakh district from April 1 this year.
This was announced by the Deputy Commissioner Dr M K Bhadari while inaugurating a training program for the ex-sarpanches, panches, members of the monitoring committees of panchayats and rural development functionaries. The training program was organized to acquaint people about NREGS.
The resource persons of the rural development department explained the broad objectives of the scheme including preparation of job cards, generating productive assets, protecting environment, empowering of rural women, registration of households and planning and monitoring. Nearly 300 members of Leh and Chushol blocks took part in the training program.
