Jammu | Mar 12

As per the latest political grapevine eagerly awaited third front will take shape at the end of this month. Various political leaders supporting the idea of third front in the state are already in touch with each other and are soon going to announce their future course of action.
Senior CPI(M) leader, M.Y.Tarigami said here today, “ I am in touch with expelled PDP leader Ghulam Hassan Mir and PDF Chairman Hakim Mohd. Yasin. We will come together when we think time has come for such a convergence of ideas.
However, when Tarigami was asked whether the third front is ready to participate in the Assembly elections, he said, at present our agenda is to make the third front a force capable of measuring swords with two other fronts, the National Conference and the PDP-Congress combine.”
On the other hand Ghulam Hassan Mir is in touch with Shoaib Lone, an independent MLA and Sarfaraz Khan, MLA from Beerwah in Budgam district.
Mir said, in reply to a question,”wait and watch. You will see big guns not from the PDP only but from other parties joining the third front.” Asked when the leaders of the third front initiate dialogue with Kashmiri separatists he said “I do not find any objection to holding talks with any political group.” Tarigami was, however, pessimistic on the success of talks with separatists.
A senior APHC leader, Prof. Abdul Gani Bhat said that “it is too early to comment on the third front.” He said “let us wait for its birth and after its shape is crystallized we have to see its programme.” He stated that if the programme of the third front was to contest the election and gain power “we shall have nothing to do with it because our aim is not to gain power but to secure settlement of the Kashmir issue.
