Around 25 workers of National Conference joined Peoples Democratic Party at a function held at Rajiv Gandhi Hospital, Gangyal. The function was held in the presence of zonal president cantonment Jammu Mr. Rashpal Singh Bloria and PDP leader Daljeet Singh Dikki, while it was organized by the ward president PDP Dinesh Kumar. During the function the new enterants said that the apathy and the anguish of the people of the area forced them to leave NC and join PDP which they said worked for the upliftment of the people. They added that this area in spite of being within the municipal limits had not seen development over the years. Poor road connectivity, erratic water supply and power supply had made their lives miserable, they further brought to the notice of the zonal president that their names were also not included in the voters list for which they blamed the local corporator. Lack of ration cards was also another major problem which added to the sufferings of the people. PDP leaders assured full cooperation and said they would take up the issues raised with the concerned authorities. Prominent among those who joined were Luddar mani, Joginder Singh, Darshan Singh, Rakesh Kumar, Rajesh Kumar, Pawan kumar, Narinder, Somenath, Rani Devi, Vidya Devi & Vimla devi. In an another release, Peoples Democratic Party worker Ghulam Qader Bhat of Shopian who was a witness to a tragic road accident has demanded the traffic police to take stern action against drivers, who drive vehicles under the influence of liquor. Two precious lives were lost and 15 others were injured, when a bus turned turtle due to an absolute fault of the driver. He blamed the traffic police for their negligent attitude and demanded adequate compensation to the bereaved families.
