Soz declares ‘arrival’, says no early elections

Though it has been month since Union Water Resources Minister Saif-ud-Din Soz been nominated as president of the Jammu and Kashmir unit of Congress but today he formally declared his arrival on the scene by holding significantly attended public meeting at Srinagar.
The “slight split” in the house was seen as wide open as a particular section of Congress attended the Soz rally while others were conspicuous by their absence. Helath Minister Mangat Ram Sharma, CAPD Minister Taj Mohiuddin and Soz’s predecessor Peerzada Mohammad Sayeed were the prominent faces at the Sher-e-Kashmir Park where the new PCC Chief formally declared his arrival on state’s Congress scene.
Soz asserted that there is no possibility of snap polls and the present coalition government will complete its full term till October. "The coalition government will last its full term; it is working well and elections are not round the corner," he said. Playing it cool and balanced, Soz also endorsed Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad's directive to party workers in the state not to speak about pre-poll alliances. Later he avoided a direct answer when asked at the following press conference whether the Congress-PDP pact continue.
Soz said that coalition government has performed well in the state and the Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad has carried it forward and ensured equitable development across the state. JKPCCI President Prof. Saif-ud-Din Soz. He said that government would continue to endeavour for faster development. He was addressing a press conference here on Wednesday after addressing largely attended public meeting today.
Soz sought cooperation from the party workers to strengthen the party and serve the people. He said that UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi has in a meeting asked him to tell the workers to help people living in length and breadth of the State. Soz said that UPA government came to power to make the country stronger with bright future. Professor Soz said that UPA enjoys the full trust of the people of India adding that UPA government will again emerge as successful winners in the next elections.
Referring to some landmark decisions of UPA government, the Congress President said that the farmers and orchardists of the Jammu and Kashmir state would also be benefited by the announcement made by the Union Finance Minister during his budget speech regarding waiving of farm loans. He said Central Government has also made a scheme for the welfare of the labour class working in un-organized sectors adding that right to information and 100 days employment guarantee scheme was introduced in the country.
UPA Chairperson, PM eager to carry forward dialogue process: Prof Soz
Regarding bilateral relations between India and Pakistan, Prof. Soz said that UPA Government headed by Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh is eager to carry the dialogue process forward. He said that his aim is to serve the people adding that both Mr. Azad and he (Prof. Soz) have decided to work for welfare of the people.
Thanking UPA Chairperson and Congress President Mrs. Sonia Gandhi and Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh, for reposing trust in him and appointing as JKPCCI President. He said he would try his best to translate the dream of a strong congress into reality by the people and workers in length and breadth of the Jammu and Kashmir.
