| Disaster management programme held | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Mar 13 Centre for Disaster Management University of Jammu in Collaboration with Civil Defence J&K Police and National Services Schemes (NSS) started 2-days Awareness cum Training Programmed in Disaster Management and Life Saving Techniques at Govt MAM College Jammu. The inaugural session was presided over by Prof. BPS Sehgal Dean Academic Affaris university of Jammu where as Prof. Ashok Airna Convenor Centre for Disaster Management, Prof. Jasbir Singh Programme coordinator NSS, Prof. Muqbilli Chishti Principal Government MAM College, Prof. GM Bhat renowned Geologist and Member CDM were the guest of honour. Prof. BPS Sehghal congratulated the centre will be able to achieve the desired goal for which it has been created. On the first day three sessions were held. In the firs session Prof. GM Bhat gave demonstration on earthquake and revealed how its occurs and its prediction and what measures we have to adopt to save our lives. Prof. Bhat also said that we have to be very cautious as both Jammu and Srinagar are in Seismic zone. In second session Alok Nanda from Civil Defence delivered a lecture on first aid and in the third session Ram Chand and Suder Sham Singh deliberated at length on Role of Civil Defence in Disaster Management and types of fire and control and use of fire extinguisher. Gohar Hafeez Fani conducted the proceedings of the programme and Programme Officer NSS Sanhya Bhardwah presented Vote of Thanks Neeraj Sharma Programme Officer NSS coordinated the programme.
