Early Times Reporter Jammu | Mar 13 Introduced for the first time in the North India, the teaching of graduate course in Art History & Aesthetics will start from next academic session (2008-2009 at the Institute of Music & Fine Arts, Jammu, (IMFA) a constituent college of Jammu University. Abhiney Kemu, Principal, IMFA, thanked Rafiq Masoodi, Secretary, J&K Cultural Academy for his visionary initiative to start the course to fulfill the need of trained graduate’s in the fast growing field of art & culture as art critics, art historians, future managers in the arts, heritage and collections sectors, and more broadly across the public service and commercial world of culture and art. The principal of IMFA, informed that the said course leading to Bachelor in visual art in art history & aesthetics being the first of its kind in the entire North India and likely to attracts students from within and outside the state, will cater to train the much needed human resources as experts in the fields of gallery practices, art management, art museums, and museums which have art collections, institutions like Kala Kendra, Jammu, Lalit Kala Academy, J&K Cultural Academy, Radio and Television for producing feature programmes and documentaries on fine/visual arts & culture, in tourism department as heritage specialists, tourist guides, editors of art journals, columnists, programmers and knowledgeable anchors, experts, in print and electronic media.
