| Industries delegation calls on CM | | Industrialists flay withdrawing of incentives | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Mar 13 An industries delegation led by Nawang Rigzin Jora Industries Minister called on Ghulam Nabi Azad chief minister in the evening today. Annil Suri chairman Federation of Industries Jammu, Rajesh Jain and Romesh Badyal Co-Chairman FOI, Anil Gupta ,Sr, vice president ASSI and Sanjay Mehra Vice President BBIA accompanied the Industries Minister were part of the delegation. Pawan Kotwal Secretary Industries and Commerce, Pardeep Gupta Director Industries Jammu were also present during the discussions. Thread bare discussions were held on important issues affecting the industrial sector. The CM was briefed about the indirect withdrawal of the Central Package of incentives by the centre vis-à-vis indirect withdrawal proposal of Central Excise Exemption for J&K Industry, Withdrawal of Central Excise exemption for eligible units directly exporting from J&K, indirect withdrawal of 100% Income Tax Exemption for Industrial Units of J&K, Effect of recent reduction in Excise Duty in the Budget on Pharmaceutical & other industry of J&K and Extension of NE Package for J&K state. The HCM was informed that the indirect withdrawal of the incentives by GOI will lead to a large scale closure of the old as well as new industrial units of the state, he was requested that the matter may kindly be taken up with the Central Government on top priority as it would act as a death blow to the industrialization of the state which had off late started picking up with the joint efforts of the state govt as well as the industry. The issue of giving relief to industry on the unprecedented power hike, de-linking of Industrial Complex Bari Brhamana from DIC Samba to DIC Jammu and extension of Roshni Scheme to the industries was also discussed with the Hon’ble CM. The Hon’ble CM gave a patient hearing and showed concern on all the issues confronting the industries. He assured that he will personally take up this serious matter with the Hon’ble Prime Minister Dr. ManMohan Singh & Hon’ble Finance Minister P. Chitambram. On the power hike he informed that the final decision of the committee formed by the cabinet for reduction in power tariff for industries will be deliberated upon within a week’s time. He also assured to have regular review meetings with the Industries.
