| Hoteliers seek implementation of cable car project | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Mar 14 Welcoming the concern express by Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad over Jammu city losing its importance and business in the city suffering a lot, after the rail reaches Katra, the basic camp of Mata Vaishno Devi, by passing Jammu city and to offset the same need for making Jammu city as independent tourist destination with creating an additional attraction for the visitors in the form of Mubarak Mandi Heritage complex, All Jammu Hotels and Lodges Association has contended that Dogra heritage complex in the Mubarak Mandi premises alone will not be sufficient to attract a large number of pilgrims and tourists to stay put at Jammu city. A meeting of the hoteliers association held here today under the Chairmanship of its President Inderjeet Khajuria and attended by H. S. Manhas, Vice President, Pawan Gupta Gen. Secy., Baldev Treasurer, Sunil Suri, Secretary and Vikram Singh, Publicity Secretary, laid stress on speedy implementation of the project of lying cable car between Mubarak Mandi and Bahu Fort and from there to Mahamaya hill top. The association rued inordinate delay being caused to take in hand this much boosted and often announced project. The hoteliers association has also demanded speedy execution if the project facelift of Tawi Bank by constructing light vehicular road on the left bank of the river and walkway with planting of decorative trees and resting places on the right bank of the river and installing mercury lights on both sides to give a healthy look at night. In connection with the creating of Mubarak Mandi heritage complex, the association has suggested that a balcony on outer circle of the Mubarak Mandi should be constructed, from where a wide view of the landscape can be enjoyed by the visitors. Besides displaying Dogra art pieces, antiques, costumes and other ethnic items, a cafeteria serving Dogra cuisine should also be setup within the complex, the association has further suggested. |
