| What delay's selection of AGMOs? | | Aspirants allege political interference | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Mar 14 The functioning of Public Service Commission has once again come under the scanner as political interference is being alleged as the reason for the blatant delay in selection of candidates for the posts of Assistant Grading and Marketing officers in horticulture department, the interviews for which were conducted over a year ago. As per highly placed sources the list is deliberately being kept with held on the behest of the ruling party politicians who want to benefit some junior level officials who have been elevated as Incharge Assistant Grading and Marketing officers against the direct quota vacant posts. PSC had advertised 14 posts for the direct recruitment way back in December 2005 vide advertise No. 18/ PSC of 2005 dated 31-12-2005 to fill the posts lying vacant since 19 95. However, while PSC conducted the interviews in July last year, the department in violation of the rules elevated some junior officials to fill the vacant posts, allegedly on the behest of agriculture minister, sources added. They alleged that the list of the selected candidates ready with the recruitment agency has been pushed under the carpet to benefit persons presently occupying the posts by giving them ample chance to stop the recruitment through direct process. "It has become quite manifest by the delaying tactics adopted by PSC , that it is helping the Incharge AGMO's under the political pressure as they are nears and dears of some ruling party ministers" said an aspirant. In a bid to support his allegations, the aspirant said PSC secretary G M Mir had on record said to Radio Srinagar during an interview with Shehar Been on January 22 that the process of selection of AGMO's was complete in all respects and the list of the selected candidates would be released any time in next two weeks. He said two months have passed since the assurance by the secretary but the list is yet to see the light of the day.
