| Deputations call on Mufti | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Mar 14 A deputation of Surankote called on the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Patron, Mufti Mohammad Sayeed here today seeking his intervention for resumption of work on the Mughal Road project which has been stopped for the last one month due to unknown reasons. The deputation was headed by PDP Zonal President Mohammad Ayub Shabnam. Expressing gratitude to the PDP Patron for his keen interest in the construction of the prestigious and historic Mughal Road, the deputation said that the construction of Road is not only vital for the physical connectivity of the area, but would also boost the economic development of the remote areas falling in the Rajouri-Poonch area. Sayeed assured the deputation that he would take up the matter with the Government to resume work on the Mughal Road immediately. A deputation from Banihal demanded that Banihal be developed as a tourist destination as the area has lot of potential for the tourism. They demanded the construction of road from Thandishanw to Hanjhal, primary health centre for Neel, high school for Tethaar and the upgradation of girls middle school to girls high school. Many people from Banihal also joined PDP in presence of PDP Patron Mufti Mohammad Sayeed. Prominent among those where Mohammad Yasin (Sarpanch, Khadi), Ab. Rashid Wani (Numberdar Bonakote), Ghulam Nabi Niayak, Advocate Khurshid and Mohammad Ramzan Bali. Deputation from the villages known as Chakha, Kundi, Serrow, Chuchatter, Bhartund, Bibrota of tehsil and district Doda demanded that they these villages had been kept with newly created district Ramban. But the Delimitation Commission has rejected the proposal and kept all these villages with district Doda against the wishes of the people of the area. They said that the distance from these villages to Doda is more than 65 kms compared to 10 kms upto Ramban. They prayed that all these villages may be kept with district Ramban in the interest of people of the area. The PDP Patron assured the deputations that their demands and issues would be taken up for redressal at the appropriate level. |
