| JSM (P) hails HC decision on Chowkidars, Jammu migrants | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Mar 14 Jammu State Morcha (Progressive) has welcomed the High Court decision directing the state government to bring Chowkidars working in Child Development Projects run by the social welfare department Jammu at par with their counterparts in Kashmir. The State Morcha leaders in a joint statement have also hailed another High Court decision directing the Relief Commissioner (Migrants) to examine the cases of 676 migrants of Jammu region within a time frame and provide them the relief as admissible according to the guidelines. The signatories of the joint statement including Prof Virender Gupta, H B Khajuria, Devinder Singh Jamwal and Chandra Uday Sharma said that the Chowkidars working in Jammu were getting just Rs.800 per month as compared to those working in Kashmir who were being paid Rs.1500 per month since April 2005. The High Court judgment would bring parity in the wages of the chowkidars, the statement added. Supporting the demand of the PHE daily wagers in Jammu, the Morcha leaders hoped that their wages would also be enhanced and made at par with their counterparts in Kashmir valley who are being paid Rs.2100 per month against Rs.500 paid to such workers in Jammu. Taking strong note of the insensitive and indifferent attitude of the government towards SRTC employees, the Morcha has also demanded regularization of all the daily wagers and immediate release of pending wages. |
