| Babu inaugurates upgraded high school at Logate | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Mar 14 Minister of State for Power Mr. Babu Singh today said that the government led by Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad has registered tangible results in the field of infrastructural development surpassing the previous record of 60 years. Speaking after inaugurating the newly upgraded government high school at village Logate in Kathua, the Minister said that government has opened and upgraded several primary, middle and high schools. He said that 40 new degree colleges and university campuses have been opened in different far-off and remote areas for branching out the opportunities of higher education. Besides, thrust is being laid on employment oriented and technical education for enabling the youth to venture, into self-employment ventures, he added. Earlier, the Minister inaugurated lanes and drains in village Logate at an estimated cost of Rs 2.70 lakh out of his Constituency Development Fund (CDF). He also inspected the ongoing construction work of road and playground at village Uttri in Kathua district being done at a cost of Rs 2 lakh and Rs 1 lakh respectively out of his CDF. Asking the executing agencies to speed up the ongoing construction works Mr. Singh impressed upon them to strike a right balance between the quality and quantity while executing different works. Informing that 28 new tube wells were dug to address the water scarcity problem of rain fed areas of Kathua district, the Minister asked the concerned officers to explore the possibilities of agriculture and horticulture development in the region. Later, several deputations met the Minister and apprised him of their demands including installation of new transformers, replacement of old warne-out water supply pipes, release of BPL ration, three months free ration to draught affected areas etc. The Minister issued instructions to the officers of concerned department to initiate immediate steps for redressal of people’s grievances. |
