| Omar takes dig at coalition, says `Khushal Kashmir' remain mere slogan | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Mar 14 Taking a dig on coalition government, National Conference president Omar Abdullah today said that `Kushal Kashmir' propounded by the ruling alliance remained a mere slogan and the coalition stands exposed before the general masses for its misdeeds and lack of firm policy. Addressing a public meeting at Kathua, Mr Omar said that his party stands for equal development of all areas of the state to remove the sense of alienation from the minds of people and added that the prosperity of the state lies only in uniform development of all the regions. Referring to the increasing unemployment problem in the state, NC president said that last four years have witnessed all promises of providing employment to one member of each family falling flat. "There is lot of courage required for making promises and keeping them", he said while referring to the hollow promises made during the last assembly elections. Omar said his party has never attempted hoodwinking people by making false promises but "NC believes that the problem of unemployment could be solved only by chalking out a comprehensive policy for taping the existing potential in all sectors". Lambasting PDP for its policies, Mr. Omar said the party could no more befool people with its hollow slogans as people are wise enough to understand the vote politics of its leadership. He said today common man feels pushed to the wall as the coalition has desperately failed to even provide basic amenities, like water, Power, health care and ration to them, that too when it get huge funding from centre. Accusing government of failing on all fronts, Omar said what purpose all these so called 'bold initiatives' are to serve when the common man is still being kept aloof of the benefits, the coalition partners have been claiming about. He said mis-management and inability to deliver goods have become the watch words for the present coalition government. Referring to his over one week visit to Kathua district he said, "What I have seen here is a very depressing picture, which indicates that government has desperately failed in keeping the promises it has made with people during last elections". He said, ultimately one reaches to the conclusion that the government has failed to match words with action, adding that people are the best judges to evaluate the real situation on the ground. Abdullah said that the far-flung areas like Kathua district have been ignored as most of the areas here lack even basic amenities like water, power, roads and ration, which, he said is evident from the pathetic condition of the people living in these areas. Lambasting the political parties who are hell bent to divide people on religious and community basis, NC president said that National Conference never fought elections on religious grounds and has always worked for the welfare of the common people with sincerity and dedication. "We believe in equitable development of all the three regions, community and caste", he said adding; "We never tried to fragment people in society for political gains". Asking the people to reject all such political parties, Omar said, "Those who are trying to divide the society for petty political gains are destroying the fabric of Jammu and Kashmir". He added that attempt was being made to create wedge among the people on communal and community lines, which can have dangerous consequences. "NC is the only party which always stood for secularism, development and brotherhood". Meanwhile, former Deputy Speaker and National Conference leader Ghulam Hyder Malik thanked party president for patient hearing which he gives to the people of the Bani and Basholi during his tour to the area. |
