| SPG to arrive early next week to review PM’s security | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Mar 14 SPG men guarding Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh are expected to visit Jammu and Kashmir early next week to review security arrangements for the Prime Minister’s proposed visit to Shri Mata Vaishno Devi university. PM is expected to attend the first convocation ceremony at the university campus located near Katra base camp of Mata Vaishno devi shrine. SPG team is expected to visit university campus to work out details of PM’s security drill. SPG conducts security drill in routine where ever Prime Minister visits. But fresh intelligence inputs about possible terror attack on vaishno devi shrine has made the job of SPG even more tough and it is for this reason PM’s visit is being kept a tightly guarded secret and no one in the security grid is willing to confirm the original schedule. Though the final date of PM’s arrival is yet to be confirmed but official sources said here today that Prime Minister is expected to travel between March 23-25 . This is all tentative the final schedule is yet to be fixed and we are in touch with the PMO to confirm the PM’s schedule, a senior state government official confirmed. “I cannot divulge further details about PM’s visit to Jammu and Kashmir”, a senior police official busy reviewing security arrangements in the area said. Prime Minister had previously visited Jammu in July 2007 to attend convocation of Jammu university. Prime Minister was also awarded with honorary D Lit degree. |
