2 booked for encroachment into forest land
Guards suspended for dereliction of duty

Rajouri, Oct 10: Rajouri police on the complaint of Forest department have booked two persons allegedly for construction of tractor road on forest land and for damaging the forest land and trees.
On the intervening night of October 6 and 7, Villagers informed the Forest Protection Force (FPF) officials and Conservator of Forest, west circle Rajouri that Mohd Yaseen and Mohd Zabir sons of Mehboob Hussain r/o village Dalogra had hired a JCB machine and started illegal excavation of forest land for the construction of tractor road.
Acting swiftly, Dr Jatinder Singh, Conservator of Forest directed concerned forester and guard to look into the complaint and reached the spot. He also directed deputy director forest protection force (FPF) to send team to the spot and take action against the accused.
FPF headed by in-charge deputy inspector Khajoor Singh rushed to the spot and seized the JCB along with other stuff and directed the driver to move to their HQ at Bathooni.
As the FPF team was about to leave the area along with seized JCB machine , a without number black Scorpio reached the spot and three persons including Parvaiz Ahmed s/o Bashir Ahmed had also altercation with the FPF officials and they also followed the JCB machine to their HQ.
"On reaching near the FPF HQ on Jammu-Poonch highway, the JCB driver and the three persons in the Scorpio overpowered the FPF officials and the driver along with JCB fled from the spot" said Deputy Director, FPF.
Dr Jatinder, according to reports, also reached the spot next day and after inspection found that concerned forester and the guard didn't respond to his direction and placed them under suspension.
He directed DFO to take action against GH Mirza, forester and Mohd Shabir , guards for negligence in official duty and against all those were responsible for the area.
He also directed deputy director FPF to lodge case against those who used JCB machine for the illegal construction/ damaging the forest land and property.
Deputy Director, FPF and Range Forest Officer in different applications have requested the Station House Officer (SHO) Rajouri to lodge case against the accused persons] and it took 2 days for police to lodge FIR.
"Mohd Yasin and Mohd Zabir have been booked under section 447 A RPC and 6/39 Forest Act and no arrest has been made yet" said a senior police officer.
