World Arthritis Day celebrated at Kotranka

Rajouri, Oct 12: On the occasions of" World Arthritis Day" BMO Kandi, with other health officials organized a function for the awareness of Arthritis.
BMO Kandi Dr Iqbal Malik gave a power point presentation on the occasion. He interacted with the ASHAs and students and delivered a comprehensive lecture on Arthritis. He said that awareness in the key factor to keep away from this self-invited disease, obesity, poor dietary habits, lack of exercise, stressful lifestyle and increasing bacterial infections are some of the reasons for the increase in the arthritis cases.
Speaking at the programme, BMO said that arthritis is a long-term chronic disease which affects knee joints, shoulder, hips, back and hands. He encouraged people to come forward for treatment of the disease and cautioned them not to take any kind of joint pain lightly. "Every kind of rheumatic disease is curable if treated before it gets worse,"
The disease was more common in women and had less access to health services. Arthritis is more common among adults between 40 to 50 years of age. However, the disease can affect people of any age groups.
Mohd Ayoub, Community Health Officer, CHC Kandi said exercising and working towards reducing your weight are one of the most effective management, early detection, treatment, taking precautions to maintain a healthy lifestyle and a good diet should help prevent the condition to a certain extent. Factors such as smoking, excessive weight, a genetic condition, strain on joints and ageing can increase the risk of developing arthritis, He added
